California City man arrested after seizure of hundreds of pounds of narcotics, firearm

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office concluded a “lengthy” drug investigation that led to the seizure of hundreds of pounds of narcotics and the arrest of one man.

Officials with KCSO said deputies seized 216 pounds of methamphetamine, about three gallons of methamphetamine in solution, one loaded firearm, two pounds of marijuana and items from a dismantled a methamphetamine conversion lab in a California City home on Monday.

The raid — which was conducted in the 100 block of Camp Fire Drive, California City — resulted in the arrest of 54-year-old Juan Manuel Castro Lopez, from Sinaloa, Mexico.

KCSO law enforcement raided the home on Aug. 17, in partnership with the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, by Wardens with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Cannabis Enforcement Program and Task Force Officers with the Bakersfield Police Department.

Personnel with the county’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force accessed the property due to the hazards present in the conversion lab and notified Kern County Environmental Health…
