A former senior corrections officer has admitted in court that he smuggled tobacco and other contraband into a prison in exchange for bribes.
Christopher Santana, 33, of Hackensack, pleaded guilty in Essex County Superior Court on Tuesday to second-degree conspiracy to commit bribery, the state Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.
As part of his plea bargain with the state, prosecutors will recommend a three-year sentence. As part of the deal, he also forfeited $4,500 in bribe money and any pubic employment. He will also be barred from holding public office or public employment in New Jersey for life…
