Bayonne Driver Charged In Jersey City Hit-Run That Seriously Injured Pedestrian

A 27-year-old Bayonne man has been charged more than a month after a hit-and-run left a pedestrian seriously injured in Jersey City, authorities said.

Santiago Mena-Gutierrez was arrested Monday, Aug. 17, by members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

The crash happened shortly after 2:20 a.m. Sunday, July 5, near Ocean and Winfield avenues, when Jersey City police were notified that a pedestrian had been struck, according to Mello. Responding officers found a 31-year-old man with serious injuries, Mello said.
