Suspect back in jail after deadly crash that killed construction worker

(FOX40.COM) — The suspect in a deadly crash on Highway 50 that killed a construction worker is back in jail following an arraignment hearing. Ruby Lorenzo, 24, of Escalon was arrested for the hit-and-run crash at the start of last week, but posted $125,000 bail shortly after, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

During her first court appearance on Wednesday, a judge granted the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office request that Lorenzo be sent back to jail with no bail.

Lorenzo faces five charges for the crash ranging from a misdemeanor to violent felonies. Investigators said her blood alcohol content was 0.15% at the time, nearly twice the legal limit. She has not entered a plea and is expected to be back in court on September 9 at 8:30 a.m…
