NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — North Providence’s highly-anticipated board game cafe is officially set to open next weekend.
The Game House RI was supposed to start welcoming board game enthusiasts on Smith Street earlier this year, but a set back involving the town’s permitting process and parking requirements forced the owners to delay their grand opening.

The North Providence Town Council approved the Game House’s parking variance earlier this month, as well as the installation of new resident-only parking signs on a nearby side street.
The owners announced in a social media post Sunday that the Game House will officially open on Sunday, Aug. 23. The owners added that guests will be welcome into the board game cafe for free that day only.
