TCU senior safety Jacob Fields, a transfer from Louisiana Tech, has reportedly been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules. Jeremy Clark of Horned Frog Blitz was first to report the news, which was confirmed by Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Tuesday. Fields was one of the top portal additions on the Horned Frog defense, which graduated safeties Bud Clark and Austin Jordan as well as several cornerbacks.
Fields played in 36 games over three seasons at Louisiana Tech. A wide receiver-turned-defensive back, Fields totaled 146 tackles, 14 pass breakups, eight tackles for loss and five interceptions over the last two seasons. He was named the Conference USA Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-CUSA selection in 2025. His departure could mean more reps for returning safety Jordan Lester, a redshirt junior who appeared in 12 games and made two starts last season.
