One person Dead After Two Motorcycle Crashes in Southern MN

Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred this morning in south-central Minnesota.

State Patrol investigates deadly Highway 60 crash

The preliminary report on the fatal incident indicates that two motorcycles were traveling west on Highway 60 and collided shortly before 10 a.m. The crash occurred where the highway curves to the south, approximately six miles west of Mankato.

Victim Was Elderly Woman

The State Patrol identified the deceased motorcyclist as 81-year-old Nancy Beck of Dandridge, Tennessee. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other motorcyclist was 63-year-old Joyce Oliphant of Plano, Texas. The State Patrol says she was not injured.

Both riders were wearing helmets

The crash report indicates both motorcyclists were wearing helmets and alcohol was not involved.

The State Patrol also responded to a motorcycle crash in Winona late Monday afternoon.

Motorcyclist Injured in Winona Collision

According to the crash report, 63-year-old Gary Haines of Watertown Wisconsin was traveling north on Highway 43 when his motorcycle collided with an SUV that was headed south on Highway 61. The collision was reported shortly after 4:30 PM.

Non-Life Threatening Injuries

The State Patrol says Haines was transported to the Winona hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was also wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved…
