Lee’s Summit drivers warned of bridge replacement that will impact highways

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Heads up for drivers in Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs and eastern Jackson County, your commute is about to get a little tricky.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is planning closures and traffic changes that will impact both MO-291 and and 50 Highways. The work will replace a bridge.

  • Wednesday, Aug. 19
  • Close right lane of WB 50 Hwy from Todd George to MO-291
  • Overnight closure starting at 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 20
  • Ramp from MO-291 to WB 50 closed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • MO-291 ramp to EB 50 Hwy closed from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Right lane of EB 50 Hwy from MO-291 South to MO-291 closed at 8 p.m. and overnight
  • EB ramp to MO-291 closed at 8 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 11 – Monday, Sept. 14
  • Left lane on WB U.S. 50 west of Todd George to the WB U.S. 50 off ramp closed
  • Traffic diverted to go up and over the ramp back to U.S. 50.
  • Left lane on EB U.S. 50 west of MO 291 to the MO 291 off ramp closed.
  • Traffic will be diverted to go up and over the ramp back to U.S. 50.
  • Friday, Sept. 11 – Friday, Nov. 13
  • Close NB MO 291 from the south side of U.S. 50 to the north side of U.S. 50.
