The Archdiocese of San Antonio has excommunicated and laicized a Comal County priest after a church tribunal found he committed schism and has directed Catholics to stop attending or supporting his church, Mission of Divine Mercy.
A church tribunal found that John Mary Foster committed “a crime against the faith for his refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff,” Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller said in a statement. Foster was also laicized, meaning he was formally removed from the priesthood.
