SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A private investigator has released a composite sketch of who he believes helped kidnap and kill 6-year-old Rosie Tapia in 1995.
Rosie Tapia was discovered missing from the bedroom in Salt Lake City in the early morning hours of August 13, 1995. Just hours later, her body was found in a canal near 900 South and 1600 West with evidence of her being sexually assaulted.
Since her death, Rosie’s family has searched for answers. In 2016, private investigator Jason K Jensen joined the case and in 2019, ABC4 helped facilitate a meeting between a witness and sketch artist. The witness described a man he had reportedly seen walking away from the canal with dripping wet pants.
Now, the forensic sketch artist has released a new drawing of the man, based on the witness’s account. The new sketch shows what the man would look like now, over 30 years after Rosie’s death.
Jensen believes this individual may have been involved in kidnapping, raping, and/or killing Rosie. However, Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) have never publicly identified a definitive suspect and Jensen notes that this image is not a positive identification of any suspect or witness or evidence of one’s involvement…
