Woman pleads guilty in fatal Highway 212 crash

A Victoria woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony criminal vehicular homicide in an April 11 wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 212 in Eden Prairie that killed a Hopkins man.

Amanda Lyn Merriman, 50, pleaded guilty Aug. 18 in Hennepin County District Court. The amended count charged her with causing the death of Bohdan Antoniuk, 69, of Hopkins, while driving negligently under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors and Merriman’s attorney may argue for a sentence within a 61- to 85-month range. The plea documents identify that as the state sentencing guidelines range. The agreement also calls for restitution, if applicable, and dismissal of a second criminal vehicular homicide count.
