Brief lockdown at middle school in Huntsville delays Wednesday dismissal

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville City Schools says that the Academy for Science & Foreign Language Middle School was briefly put on secure perimeter Wednesday ahead of afternoon dismissal.

A school system spokesperson said the school was put on a secure perimeter due to off-campus activity in the area. The system said that the activity was not related to the school itself.

HCS said that as of 3:39 p.m., the secure perimeter at ASFL had been lifted, and it was proceeding with normal dismissal.
