Houston and Woodlands to consider blocking possibility of future annexation via $50M agreement

Leaders of The Woodlands Township and the City of Houston next week will consider a $50 million agreement that would end an infrastructure funding pool shared by the two entities and ensure that Houston never annexes The Woodlands.

The Houston City Council will consider the amendment to its regional partnership agreement with the township at its meeting on Aug. 26, according to an agenda posted Wednesday. The township’s Board of Directors will consider it during a special meeting later that evening.

“The proposed amendment is the result of collaborative discussions between the city of Houston and The Woodlands Township to address the priorities of both organizations,” township officials said in a statement Wednesday…
