New fire station replaces 46-year-old firehouse at Blount Island

The new station, Station 48, replaces one opened 46 years ago inside the gates of the 2,000-acre marine terminal off Heckscher Drive.

The new station has room for a fire engine, tanker and a future rescue unit…
