U.S. News & World Report has released its latest list of the nation’s best public high schools, and a number of California schools earned high rankings.
Last year, no California high schools made the national top 10. This year, Science Academy STEM Magnet in North Hollywood came in at No. 10 nationwide, making it the highest-ranked public high school in California.
According to U.S. News & World Report, these are the top five public high schools in California (national rankings in parentheses):
- Science Academy STEM Magnet, Los Angeles Unified School District (No. 10 nationwide)
- Whitney High School, ABC Unified School District (No. 11)
- Oxford Academy, Anaheim Union High School District (No. 17)
- Dr. Richard A. Vladovic Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy, Los Angeles Unified School District (No. 24)
- Dr. T.J. Owens Gilroy Early College Academy, Gilroy Unified School District (No. 37)
