Providence murder suspect back behind bars after making bail last month

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man charged with murder in the 2024 killing of 18-year-old Darmani Balbuena is back behind bars after recently being released on bail, court records show.

Following a monthslong bail hearing that began in March, Julien Santiago, 22, was released on a $40,000 surety bond last month. His codefendants — his brother Jalen Santiago, along with Jose Diaz — were denied bail.
