Stormwater runoff surge floods Ringgold businesses, residential areas early Friday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — High waters in Friday’s early morning hours caused significant damage to several businesses and homes in Ringgold, near Battlefield Parkway and the South Chickamauga Creek.

One business, Caffeine Addicts on Nashville Street in the heart of Ringgold’s downtown, posted this on Facebook:

I just received a call that our shop is completely flooded. I’ve been told the water is so bad that it is coming out of the front door…. Please pray for our family, our employees, and our little shop. We are heartbroken and waiting to learn just how bad the damage is.

It wasn’t just water. At a home on Boynton Drive, a tree branch through the ceiling gave a couple got a rude awakening by a tree branched that pierced the ceiling over their head…
