Dreaming of ice cream and shaved ice? You no longer have to hunt down the Dream Flavors truck to satisfy your sweet tooth. After nearly a decade on wheels, the Birmingham family-owned business formerly known as Summer Snow finally opened its first brick-and-mortar location in downtown Birmingham this past spring.
Located at 2014 2nd Ave. N., across from Helen and Bayonet, the new storefront is walkable to plenty of downtown destinations—and there’s a convenient parking deck right next door for families driving in. Plus, they’re open late on the weekends! (Open until 9 p.m. on weeknights and 11 p.m. on Fri–Sat!) Here’s why you need to visit.
A New Sweet Stop in Downtown Birmingham
The brick-and-mortar shop has been almost a decade in the making. Walter Baldwin started Dream Flavors, formerly known as Summer Snow, by serving shaved ice and snowballs out of a small trailer. From there, the family upgraded to a converted school bus, expanded to three mobile units, and began selling products in stores around town.
