SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — An urgent effort to get dogs out of hot kennel areas at Shelby Humane has led to more than 80 animals being fostered, adopted or sent to rescue this week, while a temporary cooling system is now helping lower temperatures inside the shelter.
Shelter leaders say the response was prompted by extreme heat that pushed temperatures inside the kennel area to around 95 degrees Wednesday.
