Friday and weekend: Back to School Bash, Egyptian Festival, Cake Fest, and more

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Here’s your guide to what’s happening around the Rochester area on Friday and this weekend. You can see more upcoming events in our community calendar.

Back to School Bash (Saturday)

Students and families can gear up for the upcoming school year at the Back to School Bash at Basil Marella Park in Greece on Saturday. The event will feature free school supplies, food, and community resources for families.

People can stop by the park on English Road from 1 to 4 p.m. Activities at the event include a bounce house, inflatables, a DJ, games, giveaways, face painting, and balloon art. Greater New York Revitalization is hosting the event with help from the Diverse Mosaic Community Center and Greece Central School District’s Community Schools program. Last year’s event drew more than 380 people.

Egyptian Festival (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Egyptian food and culture will be on full display on Friday and this weekend at St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Henrietta. The Egyptian Festival runs from noon to 8 p.m. every day at the church on 530 Lehigh Station Rd.

The festival will include authentic Egyptian cuisine, a bazaar, jewelry, Henna tattoos, face painting, and children’s activities. There will also be church tours daily. You can learn more here.

International Day of Salsa (Sunday)

The International Plaza will be full of music and salsa dancing on Sunday for the fifth annual International Day of Salsa. The free event will feature Gaby Zambrano, “La Leona de la Salsa,” and Las Damas de la Salsa, along with DJs and special guests…
