OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Two major homeless encampments are nestled less than 50 yards away from popular walking destination, Lake Hefner Trail.
Last week a woman on the trail was allegedly attacked by 26-year-old Jeff Asare who was arrested on August 1 and 6 for miscellaneous violent sex crimes but was subsequently released.
On August 12, he was arrested again and is now behind bars, held for first-degree rape.
“I’m really sad for the women who have been victims to these crimes. I’m very sad that us, as women as a whole, have to keep our heads on swivels when we run, and we really can’t go out running without that in the back of our heads and without some sort of fear in our heads,” said Laura Pryor, local runner.
