Newton Mayor Randy Ervin has doubts that a previously announced $17-million dollar capital investment project by AU Solutions of Tulsa, Oklahoma will ever occur.
In June, the ag chemical manufacturing company said it planned to build a new manufacturing facility in the new Newton Rail Park, which would create 22 jobs. A groundbreaking was set for July 9th, but was canceled by AU Solutions just a couple of days earlier. Since then, Ervin says attempts to meet with AU Solutions officials have been unsuccessful.
“It’s disappointing, especially with them being the forerunner to the Rail Park. Also, they drove the press release and for them to just put the brakes on is very difficult for the city to understand.”…
