HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Pearl City Senior League all-stars are back home in the islands this week as World Champions. It’s a story of resilience 4,500 miles from home where the 16U boy from Pearl City lost their first game, and then went 5-0 including a win in the championship over Curacao.
“Losing Game One was really tough for us, like anyone could imagine, and how it would challenge a team. But we just told them that they got to stick together and that we can still win the whole thing. But it’s going to take a lot of discipline and just staying together as a family.” said coach Ty Takahashi.
A lot of the players on this Pearl City team have been playing together since they were just getting into the game, and also in a 2023 trip to the Intermediate World Series where they finished runner-up in the US Championship…
