More Sacramento residents can now get a rebate for replacing older toilets

The City of Sacramento Department of Utilities has expanded its toilet rebate program, making more residential customers eligible to receive money back when replacing older, higher-flow toilets with water-efficient models.

Eligible customers can now receive a rebate of up to $50 for replacing qualifying toilets manufactured between 1992 and 2013 that use 1.6 gallons per flush. Previously, the residential rebate was limited to qualifying toilets manufactured before 1992.

“We wanted to make this rebate available to more of our customers and encourage them to replace older toilets that are still using more water than today’s most efficient models,” said William Granger, the City’s water conservation coordinator. “Even if your toilet isn’t decades old, there may now be an opportunity to upgrade, save water and receive some money back.”…
