DLNR proposes new rules for cats and other animals on state lands

HONOLULU (KHON2) — New proposed rules from the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources are sparking debate over how the state should manage cats and other animals on public lands.

DLNR is proposing changes to its rules governing indigenous, endangered and threatened wildlife, as well as introduced wildlife. The department said the goal is to conserve, manage, protect and enhance Hawaiʻi’s indigenous wildlife and manage introduced wildlife.
