As the Hawk Fire grows and evacuations spread, the University of Nevada, Reno said it is monitoring conditions and offering support to students, faculty and staff affected by displacement and smoke.
“With the start of the Hawk Fire today, many members of our community are facing uncertainty due to evacuations, displacement, reduced air quality from smoke, and concerns for the safety of loved ones and property,” the university said in a statement posted to its social media pages. “Our thoughts are with everyone affected.”
The university said the UNR campus is not currently within an evacuation zone or a “Get Ready” (Yellow) evacuation zone. University leadership is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed. The university directed people to unr.edu and its official social media channels for the latest information about any potential impacts to university operations.
