ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man climbed over a fence in the Saint Louis Zoo’s Big Cat Country and sat above the habitat Saturday evening, a Saint Louis Zoo spokesperson said.
Close to 5 p.m., a man climbed over a fence and sat on the artificial rock barrier above one of the habitats. He never came into contact with any of the animals, and security was on scene within minutes. The man was taken into custody by the zoo’s security and was then turned over to the police.
The Saint Louis Zoo is grateful that no person or animal was injured, and said staff is evaluating whether modifications need to be made to prevent future incidents such as this. The zoo emphasized that wild animals can become territorial or frightened in such scenarios, and it’s unsafe for anyone to attempt to make contact or enter the habitat…
