Potential housing redevelopment on Madison’s west side sparks concern

Developers are eyeing the site of a three-story office building near West Towne Mall for a major housing redevelopment, prompting concerns from residents and the area’s City Council representative.

RFA, a Canada-based firm, submitted preliminary plans this summer that would demolish the UW Health administrative office at 301 S. Westfield Road to make way for around 570 apartments across five new five-story buildings. The plans filed with Madison’s Urban Design Commission show two mixed-use buildings at the south end of the property, about a block north of Mineral Point Road, with a three-building residential complex toward the north end…
