Washington Man Blames Hit-And-Run on Mystery Driver He Claims He Just Met

There are plenty of questionable decisions in this story, but handing the keys to your truck to a man you apparently just met might be near the top. Kitsap County deputies say that explanation surfaced after a Nissan Frontier crashed through a fence in Silverdale before ending up in heavy brush.

The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. on August 21 near Silverdale Way NW and NW Waaga Way, close to the entrance of Clear Creek Trail. When deputies arrived, the 41-year-old Poulsbo man who owned the truck told them he hadn’t been behind the wheel.

Instead, the owner claimed another man he had recently met was driving when the Frontier went through the fence. According to deputies, that unidentified driver then got out and disappeared on foot…
