Schenectady woman charged with arson at Union Street apartment

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT) — A Schenectady woman was arrested after investigators determined a fire inside an occupied Union Street apartment building was set intentionally.

The Schenectady Fire Department said firefighters responded at about 5:17 a.m. Aug. 23 to 405 Union St. for a reported structure fire. When crews arrived, they found a small fire in an interior hallway near an apartment entrance that had already been put out.

A joint investigation by the Schenectady Fire Investigation Unit and the Schenectady Police Department found the fire was intentionally set, according to the release. Officials said the 11-unit building was occupied at the time…
