Although the Stark County Fair annual grandstand high school band show has been canceled this year, several area bands will perform throughout the fairgrounds during the 175th annual fair, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 1, and continues through Monday, Sept. 7.
Area band directors were informed about the band show cancellation in a letter last March from Fair Board President Jill Sterling because of significant changes to the horse racing circuit and its requisite logistical requirements.
Scheduled to perform throughout the fairgrounds Thursday, Sept. 3, are Canton South band members from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and Sandy Valley from 9:30 to 10 a.m…
