Students from 11 school districts will return to the Erie County Technical School in Summit Township on August 25, and this year they’ll have a brand-new career pathway to explore.
The technical school is launching its new Heavy Equipment Operator and Mechanic Program, giving students the opportunity to learn how to operate, maintain, and repair the types of heavy machinery commonly used in construction, excavation, and other skilled trades.
School leaders say the program was developed to help meet the growing workforce needs of local employers who are seeking trained workers with specialized skills.
