Violent jailbreak thwarted by inmates at Orange County jail, report shows

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man is now facing even more charges after he allegedly strangled a corrections officer at the Orange County jail on Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.

In an arrest affidavit, deputies said that the officer was sitting at his desk in the facility’s detox unit when the suspect — identified as 25-year-old Anthony Rivera — came up from behind and placed an arm around his neck.

“(The officer) felt he was choked out and had a hard time breathing,” the affidavit reads…
