Pompano Beach Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Dead, Driver Flees

Police Say Death May Have Occurred At Different Scene…

Deputies were called shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, to the 700 block of Southwest 10th Drive, where someone reported a person lying in a grass swale. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld. Detectives say his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Here’s the twist: investigators aren’t convinced the crash actually happened where the victim was found. Detectives combed the area and say the collision may have occurred somewhere else entirely, meaning the driver — and possibly the vehicle involved — could be linked to a different location altogether…
