Redlands officer headbutted by suspect who swallowed fentanyl

A man with outstanding warrants who told police during his arrest that he had swallowed fentanyl later headbutted an officer while being treated at an Inland Empire hospital, authorities said.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. Aug. 18, when Redlands police responded to reports of a man brandishing a gun at a motel in the 1100 block of Arizona Street.
