GATES, N.Y. — The Gates-Chili Fire Department is no longer recruiting volunteer firefighters.
The department’s board of directors voted last week to end recruitment efforts after deciding there wasn’t a return on the investment. According to the Gates Fire District Chief Tim Goole, the department will still be accepting applications, it just won’t be implementing recruitment events.
