Fort Worth man jealous of a relationship fatally shot victim, sentenced 30 years

A Tarrant County jury found a man guilty of murder in the June 2025 killing of a 24-year-old man outside a residence in west Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

Jonathan Martinez Aranda, 25, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for shooting Mathew Fonseca multiple times in a driveway in the 3000 block of Conejos Drive, the DA’s office said in a news release.

Fonseca was out with his girlfriend, and Aranda, jealous of the relationship, confronted the victim and fatally shot him, according to the DA’s office.

Fort Worth police officers responded to the shooting on June 15 at about 3:30 a.m., where they found Fonseca with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and torso inside a vehicle. Fonseca was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, the Star-Telegram previously reported…
