ABC-7 First Alert Continues: Hot, Mostly Dry Weather Through Midweek; Storm Chances Return Late Week

Hot and mostly dry weather will dominate across El Paso, southern New Mexico and far West Texas through much of the week. Temperatures will run above average, with afternoon highs in the lowlands generally ranging from the upper 90s to around 105 degrees. Some locations could approach daily record highs.

The heat continues through the middle of the week, with temperatures remaining several degrees above normal. Afternoon highs will stay near or above 100 degrees in many lowland locations, making heat safety an important consideration during the hottest part of the day.

The weather pattern begins to change Thursday as moisture increases and thunderstorm chances improve. Better opportunities for showers and thunderstorms are expected from Thursday into next weekend, particularly across the mountains and nearby lowlands.
