Man pulled from KDOT lake north of Wichita identified

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office on Monday identified the man whose body was recovered from a fishing lake Friday as a missing 44-year-old.

The family of Michael Goering of Wichita notified police Friday morning that he was missing. They also said he may have been experiencing a mental health crisis.

Around 1:40 p.m., visitors found a body in the KDOT East Lake near Hydraulic Avenue and 45th Street North. Firefighters pulled Goering’s body from the water.

The autopsy on Goering’s body has been completed. The sheriff’s office said that it is awaiting the toxicology report and that the cause and manner of Goering’s death is still under investigation…
