The Heat Dome Shifts: Rain chances rise as temperatures finally ease

Columbus, Ga. (WRBL)-The forecast remains hot and relatively dry, but there’s one big change you’ll notice this week: the humidity is backing off.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny with highs around 96 degrees, and a shower would be hard to find. Mid-90s heat continues into Wednesday, but changes begin late Wednesday afternoon and evening as scattered showers and thunderstorms become more likely.

The pattern is shifting into what meteorologists call a “trough pattern.” As the strong heat dome builds farther west, disturbances dropping southward from the Northwest will begin moving into our region…
