WinnCos. has completed the preservation and modernization of Evergreen East, a 508-unit affordable housing property in Fairport, N.Y., a Perinton, N.Y., village. As a result of the three-year, $86 million project, all the community’s apartments are now designated as low-income housing tax credit units for the first time in the property’s history.
The Architectural Team served as architect, DiMarco Constructors as general contractor and BME Associates as civil engineer and landscape architect. In addition, The Public Archaeology Lab provided consultancy on the historic preservation aspects. No households were permanently displaced during the project.
Ongoing affordable housing trends place a growing emphasis on rehabilitation and preservation in response to rising development costs and limited land availability.
