A fire that sparked in North Texas Monday afternoon, August 24, has grown to about 50,000 acres as Texas firefighters and emergency personnel battle it with minimal containment .
The Texas A&M Forest Service flagged “extreme fire behavior” in Palo Pinto County in a social media post around 7:30 p.m. Monday, after an initial incident report noted the fire around 3 p.m. Officials described the blaze as having “large growth potential,” dubbing it the Ross Fire.
