Two Uptown Dallas dining spots that anchored the Harwood District’s ground-floor scene are gone. Tequila Social, the Tex-Mex patio bar overlooking the Katy Trail, and Poco Fiasco, the pizza-and-martini spot around the corner, both closed last Friday, part of a broader shake-up that also took down two other Harwood Hospitality Group concepts in the same neighborhood.
The closures of Elephant East and Dolce Riviera came down simultaneously with Tequila Social and Poco Fiasco, according to the Dallas Observer, which reported that Harwood removed all four venues from its website and social media channels overnight. Tequila Social had opened in 2023 at 3100 McKinnon St. as a Tex-Mex restaurant serving tacos, burgers and other fare, while Poco Fiasco opened in 2022 at 2823 McKinnon St. offering handcrafted pizzas and signature martinis, according to reporting from The Dallas Morning News. Both venues were run by Harwood Hospitality Group, a division of Harwood International.
Redevelopment Plans Behind the Tequila Social Closure
Per Harwood International, Tequila Social’s closure traces to planned redevelopment of the building it occupied, and the company had said the restaurant was expected to close ahead of that redevelopment. The timing and scope of that redevelopment remain unclear, and Harwood International noted that Tequila Social had remained open through the World Cup before shutting its doors. The 200-seat outdoor patio along the Katy Trail had faced strong competition from established neighborhood venues like Katy Trail Ice House, the Dallas Observer reported, with the restaurant reportedly struggling to maintain steady foot traffic outside of peak weekend hours and major sports broadcasts.
Poco Fiasco’s closure came under different circumstances, described as part of a wider review of Harwood International’s dining concepts in the area. What replaces Poco Fiasco remains unclear, per the same Dallas Morning News report. Harwood International said in a statement that it is grateful to the teams, tenants, guests and patrons who supported both Tequila Social and Poco Fiasco.
A Steakhouse Stocked With Samurai Armor
Harwood International’s next move for the district is Docent Steak, a steakhouse serving Kobe beef that is slated to open in fall 2026 on the ground level of the office building at 2801 N. Harwood St. The concept will incorporate Asian antiquities, contemporary art and cultural artifacts, according to the Dallas Morning News.
