ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A woman faces an arson charge after police said she tried to start a fire at a north St. Louis apartment by wedging a piece of burning fabric into a door.
Kilwana Johnson, 50, was charged with first-degree arson after a tenant was able to extinguish a fire on their door early in the morning, according to court records.
A probable cause statement said the tenant woke up at around 1:30 a.m. on June 23 in their Peck Street apartment to the sound of smoke alarms. They found a piece of fabric wedged at the top of the apartment door and on fire.
