‘Sometimes it takes a village’: Witnesses stop suspected drunk driver from fleeing after crash

DENVER (KDVR) — The Commerce City Police Department said that a suspected drunk driver was arrested on Monday night because of witnesses who kept the person from fleeing.

According to body camera footage released on social media, officers responded to the crash around 8 p.m. on Monday at East 84th Avenue and Rosemary Street.

Witnesses said that the suspect driver, whom officers said was under the influence, allegedly struck another vehicle, occupied by a toddler and an infant, along with the driver.

Officials said that along with the victim driver, nearby and concerned witnesses kept the suspect, a man, at the scene, preventing him from fleeing before police arrived. According to the post, the victim vehicle’s occupants were okay…
