National family-owned halal franchise opens in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A national halal franchise has made it’s way to Upstate New York and is now open in Albany. Naz’s Halal Food, located at 1770 Central Ave., held its grand opening on Saturday.

The restaurant specializes in a variety of food options, including platters, gyros, wings, burgers, subs and more. The new location is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 a.m.

Abdul Bari is one of the owners of the new Albany spot. He knows the family who owns the NYC-based franchise and is thrilled to be a part of its expansion.

“Opening Naz’s Halal in Upstate New York is incredibly meaningful to us because we’re bringing more than just another restaurant to the area—we’re bringing a taste of the food, culture, and hospitality that we’re passionate about sharing with our community,” Bari said. “We want Naz to be a place where people can enjoy high-quality halal food in a welcoming environment, while also creating local jobs and supporting the community.”
