A 72-year-old Perkasie resident is facing felony charges after police say she pushed an officer down a staircase, sending him into a wall, then later forced nasal mucus toward a sergeant outside the hospital where she was taken for evaluation. Lois A. Singer now faces aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment following the Sunday incident on Race Street.
According to Central Bucks Now, Perkasie Borough Police responded to the home on Race Street after receiving a report of a possible domestic disturbance. A caller told police that a roommate had been yelling and damaging items throughout the weekend, according to the affidavit cited by the outlet. When officers arrived, they reportedly found numerous damaged and displaced items inside the residence, including a porcelain toilet tank lid left sitting on the staircase, with debris partially blocking the stairs.
Officer Allegedly Shoved Down Stairs
As officers spoke with occupants of the home, Singer allegedly attempted to walk downstairs and, per police, grabbed an officer’s shoulder before forcefully pushing him. The officer reportedly fell into a wall as a result of the alleged push. Police say Singer’s cellphone began ringing during the encounter and that she demanded the device back from the officer, according to the affidavit.
Officers took Singer into custody without further incident, the report states. She was then transported to St. Luke’s Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, which officially joined the St. Luke’s University Health Network on July 1, 2025, and operates a 24/7 Level II Adult Trauma Center and Emergency Department, according to a PR Newswire release announcing the affiliation.
Alleged Spitting Incident Outside the Hospital
Once at the hospital, the account of accusations grew more serious. Police say Singer forcibly expelled nasal mucus toward a sergeant outside the facility, and that she repeatedly spat inside an examination room afterward.
