AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — Two Augusta apartment complexes operated without a business license, and inspectors have found more than 160 problems between the two properties, according to inspection reports. The city answered questions about how this happened for the first time.
Two properties investigated
Brook Landing, also known as Azalea Park, and Pace Corners are the two properties involved. Local law requires every business in Augusta-Richmond County to obtain a business license. It is the one way the city can track if a company is paying its taxes and is following zoning, building and health codes.
Both properties had been operating without a business license while also evicting tenants, including Vantoria McNair and Shakill Garnett.
Adleasia Cameron took over as director of Augusta-Richmond County Planning and Development in March. She was not there when either property was built, sold, or left unlicensed. Cameron sent inspectors to both properties after 12 On Your Side Investigates started asking questions…
