There are dog friendly events, and then there are dog friendly events.
Over the course of the last three years, the Shakir Family Foundation – a non-profit organization created by Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir and his wife, Sailor Shakir – has been dedicated to spotlighting adoptable dogs from local shelters. This is mainly done through the annual Shakir Family Pet Adoption Event, which teams up local animal shelters and rescue organizations with community members who may be considering adopting a new four legged friend.
This year, the Shakir Family Pet Adoption Event will be held at The Stables at Knox Farm State Park. This new venue will allow rescue groups to spread their wings even further. The rescues that will be in attendance at the event include Allie & Pals, Awesome Paws, Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue, Buffalo Underdogs, Daisy’s Promise Dog Rescue, Heart Animal Rescue, Nickel City Canine Rescue, Puppy Mill Rescue Team, Sadie’s Safe Harbor Canine Rescue, Ten Lives Club, and 7 Hearts…
