Walmart will not be able to open a delivery depot in a former Bloomfield Rite Aid, following a decision from Pittsburgh zoning officials.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment on Monday denied the retailer’s request for permission to use the site on Howley St., near the five-way intersection of Liberty Ave., Main St. and the Bloomfield Bridge.
Walmart said the operation would be most similar to a grocery store, a use that could be allowed in the Local Neighborhood Commercial District, for which the street is zoned. It also would have needed permission for fewer parking spaces than required for a grocery store in city code…
